Key takeaways

The pandemic has forced increased adoption

Patients will expect an increased level of service

The rate of innovation in healthcare using digital tools will compound

2021 will be the year that the digitisation of healthcare is adopted at a rate never seen before. It’s been on the cards for a few years now and the pandemic forced and accelerated digitisation but 2021 is when it will become the new normal and table-stakes for referrers, patients and partners alike.

This fantastic set of predictions from American based venture company, Bessemer Venture Partners outlines the concept of digitisation and why it will start to permeate the back office, facilitate Telehealth and also increase the amount of innovation and investment in the healthcare industry. All of this is positive if you’re a patient and/or dependent on your country’s healthcare system.

And while much of this is patient or “consumer” focussed it’s worth mentioning that the digitisation of healthcare workforces also requires dedicated and intentional thought as less time is spent co-located and context is to some degree harder to set and ensure. To that end tools and practices that are commonplace outside of the industry such as strategy to execution frameworks, team engagement platforms and “virtual” all-hands will become the norm and foster a more collaborative workforce. This is where we think CureVentus has an important part to play and will help teams focus on what matters.

At the more innovative end of the spectrum it is going to be fascinating to see how the role of predictive healthcare and long hyped technologies like Artificial Intelligence play out. Many of the use cases are now being proved out and the efficacy of these tools on patient outcomes can be compounding.

It’s an exciting time for healthcare and the utilisation of digital tools at scale and for such important use cases bodes well for everyone involved. We look forward to seeing where we’ll be come the end of 2021.
